It’s one of the many ways to build your list. Yes they are freebie seekers and some say they are not that good to make money from but I have found that if you treat them right and build a relationship with them you can turn them into buyers.

Remember when you started out you were most likely a freebie seeker too. I bet you now spend a few bucks here and there and they will too. So my advice would be never dismiss a freebie seeker as a useless name on your list.

OK, let’s say you’re new to list building and you want to start building your list. You are wondering to yourself , how do I get it started? Before you do anything you will need hosting, someone with good reviews like Hostgator and a good auto-responder that is user friendly like Aweber. NEVER get these services free, always use mainstream paid services. I’ve heard more horror stories about the mentor that supplied the hosting and auto responder and then you decided to get out and couldn’t take anything with you. So all your efforts were all for nothing and you are starting over again. So don’t do it!!!

Now that you have those two services you need to put a sign-up form on your website or blog giving a free report of some kind in exchange for their name and email. Just like the one to the right of this post. That’s just one way to start your list but it is going to be rather slow until you drive traffic to your site. There are two other ways you start your list from zero a little bit faster.

JV Giveaways…

You can use JV Giveaways to start your list but it can be a long time before you can get 500 subs to swap with. When I’m using JV Giveaways to build my list up I will join 4 to 6 at a time. I will try to find the ones that pay 100% commissions on upgrades and OTO’s (one time offers). I do this because I will upgrade in the event as long as it is $17 or less. I will pay more but only if I know the event holder and how the event went previously.

The advantage to upgrading in the JV Giveaway is that you get to submit more than one free gift, submit OTO’s and submit text ads. You get higher commissions on anybody that upgrades using your affiliate link and the two most important reasons to upgrade, your gifts show on the random gift page along with showing closer to the front of the event. This will give you greater exposure that will get more new subscribers.

Solo Ads…

Another way is to buy a solo ad from someone that has a larger list and this is a way to build your list on the fast track. Solo ads can cost from .30 to .45 per unique click. Say if you had a good converting offer that converts around 50% you can get 500 subs with a 1000 click solo ad for $300 to $450. Just be careful and make sure the clicks only come from them mailing to their list and not sending you clicks from TE’s (Traffic Exchanges) or safe lists because these kind of clicks DO NOT CONVERT. You can also buy smaller solo ads from some marketers if the 1000 click is not in your budget. You can get 100 clicks for $35 and up.

No matter which of the techniques you use, a good sales funnel should be in place to recover some of your costs . If you know how, you can build one yourself or you can pay someone to build one for you. I build sales funnels and charge an average price of $297 and up depending on how detailed it is and that is the going price within the network I’m in. I have seen the same sales funnels go for $597 and up, so just use your best judgment when shopping for one.

So now you have the three ways to build your list from scratch, putting a sign-up form on your blog or website, JV Giveaways and solo ads. Once you have a list of 500 plus, doors start to open and your list will grow much faster.

Do you only rely on the spell check feature when writing. You do realize that even if the words are spelled right they may be the wrong words used. Always proof read your work. Read it out loud to yourself and just see how it sounds. If it sounds a little goofy take a closer look at what you have written. Then after you do your proof reading, give it to someone else to read.

Let’s have a little fun now…

I take it you already know
Of tough and bough and cough and dough?
Others may stumble, but not you,
On hiccough, thorough, lough and through?
Well done! And now you wish, perhaps,
To learn of less familiar traps?

Beware of heard, a dreadful word
That looks like beard and sounds like bird,
And dead: it’s said like bed, not bead -
For goodness sake don’t call it deed!
Watch out for meat and great and threat
(They rhyme with suite and straight and debt).

A moth is not a moth in mother,
Nor both in bother, broth in brother,
And here is not a match for there
Nor dear and fear for bear and pear,
And then there’s dose and rose and lose -
Just look them up – and goose and choose,

And cork and work and card and ward,
And font and front and word and sword,
And do and go and thwart and cart -
Come, come, I’ve hardly made a start!
A dreadful language? Man alive!
I’d mastered it when I was five!

Well Garry Parkes and Gary Simpson have opened the doors to members this morning. I got in first thing just a little after 8 A.M. EST and had a look around. It’s just like they said they are going to start at the very beginning. Internet Marketing can be very intimidating to the newbie. It sure was for me when I first got started. I had now idea of what I was doing. I knew what I wanted, I wanted to make an income from home. But how? I didn’t know where to look for the information.

I ended up filling in a survey with my email, name and phone number. WARNING: Never give your phone number out!!! It has been over 4 years now since I filled out that survey and I am still getting phone calls wanting me to buy the next shiny button that will make me millions and I am on the national do not call list.

Well in the beginning I bought every shiny push button, set it and forget it program that came my way. Now I must say they all told me what I needed to do to make a living but problem was HOW DO I DO IT. They all left that part out. Maybe it was in the upsell part of the course that was hundreds more. I would spend $1997 on a course but to make it work it would be another $97 per month for 6 months to make it all come together. I would still not know what I was doing.

Well the Internet Business CodeX is a one time fee of $397. Nothing else is for sell. No $97 per month to make it all work. They are starting at the very beginning telling you HOW TO DO IT. No one gets left behind!!! Yeah some of us are further along in our knowledge but they will catch up to what we know. Besides maybe we need a little brush up on a few simple things.

Go take a look before saying just another scam. It don’t cost to window shop.

http://ebizac.com/x/t.php/14090

This is a post of a marketing friend of mine Marj Wyatt. This was posted on August 25, 2010 and is still a problem today.

******************************************************************

Skype is an invaluable business building tool. Not only does it allow you to conduct business internationally without incurring international long distance charges, it make is very easy to share large files and engage your customers in video chats when the need arises.

There is a dark side to Skype. Hackers prey on naive online users. Last year’s hacker game was to usurp an account and initiate contact with all confirmed contacts, inviting those people to accept files. Even though I do not consider myself to be naive, I was duped into accepting and opening a file, in March 2009, when a seemingly active client offered it to me. When I lost access to my Skype account, I realized I had been hacked. It took a few days to put everything back together and it was a real headache.

I haven’t accepted any spontaneously offered files or clicked on any uninvited links since that time, even if the offer is extended by a long-term contact on my list.

This year’s hacker game is to hijack an account and offer a link that looks like a Skype link to all confirmed contacts in that account. With a slight amount of scrutiny, it is obviously not a link you should follow. The link will probably ask you to login to your Skype account, at which point the hacker has your credentials. If you have a Skype subscription attached to your PayPal account, the hackers can run up huge expenses for you. Skype takes no responsibility for this. Neither does PayPal.

When my Skype account was hijacked in March 2009, I had no Skype subscriptions but friends of mine who were hacked by the hackers who hacked me were harmed financially. A hacker’s sole intention is to steal something from you. They are clever people and it is truly a shame that they have chosen to use their creative talent for malicious intent.

Safe computing and surfing is an old topic but its relevance is not stale. It is comprised of more than running Spyware blockers and Antivirus software, especially if you are a member of any internet messaging application.

I was wanting to set a filter in Google Analytics so that when I visited my own sites it would not register as a visit. So I wanted to exclude my IP address.

If you ever want to know your IP address go to this site and it tells you in big bold numbers. http://whatismyip.com

It has come to my attention and the attention of many of my Internet Marketing colleagues that a huge percentage of people in our community are operating in an unethical, often illegal, manner. In our own spheres of influence, those of us who still believe in “white hat” (ethical, honest) practices are taking to task those we know who are leaning to the “dark side” (dishonest, deceptive, unethical practices).

Naturally, we white hat marketers are being resisted and even upbraided by those on the dark side who continue to pander to the but-it-makes-me-more money-this-way mentality who are more interested in short-term profits than business longevity.

Some of us are fighting mad about it. But, let’s take a benevolent position for a moment and assume that part of the problem is that an “Internet Marketer’s Code of Ethics” has not been published. We’ll give the dark side the benefit of the doubt and ask them to adhere to a code. Then, if they don’t, they will have shown us all who they are and we’ll have a document to point to; we’ll be able to say, “Mr. XYZ marketer has violated these points of the ‘Internet Marketer’s Code of Ethics’.”

General Conduct

I will not knowingly misrepresent myself or the products I am promoting.

I will not knowingly deceive my customers.

I will, at all times, treat my customers, my clients and my peers with due respect as they have earned and deserve.

I will comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

I will honor all guarantees and issue prompt refunds according to the terms I have stated without question.

I will support and promote this Internet Marketer’s Code of Ethics.

Promotions

I will refrain from using deceptive and/or misleading headlines, email subject lines and testimonials.

Headlines, subject lines and testimonials will be relevant to the product I am promoting and relevant to the content of my promotional materials.

I will avoid high-pressure and/or manipulative sales tactics.

I will deliver everything I promise in my sales materials.

Communications

I will inform my prospects and customers of the frequency of communication they can expect of me.

I will adhere to those expectations.

I will treat all communications to my customers and prospects as if I am communicating with them in person.

Miscellaneous

I will never deprive someone of an affiliate commission they deserve or have earned.

I will abide by the license restrictions for all resale products I acquire.

I will not engage in excessive, irritating or deceptive entrance/exit popups.

I will address all customer service/support requests in a timely manner.

This code will no doubt be questioned and it will, as a result of the normal course of human emotion and reaction, evolve. But, we have here a starting point from which to proceed.

If you are in agreement with this code, tell every marketer you know about it and get them on board. It’s our business to take care of our business. Post your comments and suggestions and feel free to contact me directly. It’s time to take a stand.
